Traditional and Local Knowledge (TLK) offers an abundance of information and invaluable insights that are critical to informing decision making processes in the Beaufort Sea. As such, the Beaufort Sea Partnership and the Traditional and Local Knowledge Working Group (TLK WG) are working to improve TLK coordination in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR).
One example of this is the development of the Inuvialuit Traditional and Local Knowledge Catalogue at the Inuvialuit Joint Secretariat. This catalogue aims to increase the accessibility of existing Inuvialuit Traditional and Local Knowledge studies so that this information is available for use by community members and decision-makers.
As well, the TLK WG is involved in developing policy documents and provides guidance to the TLK Coordinator; a new position that will work to guide and coordinate TLK research in the ISR.
